Galleries: Scottish landscapes and prints }} Contemporary and Abstarct }} Other Worlds and Metaphysical }}     Other Worlds & Metaphysical Much of my early work was from my imagination. often including faces, probably because the rest of my time was spent painting portraits.My paintings and drawings in this catagory have become less decorative and more subjective. I am trying to work more on theme and allegory. There are stories to be told, I just hope I can eventually get them to come out! The difficulty with this genre is avoiding cliche, the pretentious, and more seriously, over-illustrating what cannot be seen or verified by the general concensus of opinion and could easily become a personal world -like dustbin in free-flow. Things which believe it or not, exist but cannot be seen other than ocassionaly glimpsed, you can apreciate on a philosophical level or purely on an emotive level. So it is these glimpses I am trying to capture these days,using colour and form as the tools to create a sense of the ethereal heavenly realms that are beyond the physical senses but within the experience of the spiritual.I have always been aware of that connection, though now, as a comitted christian, for me, it is given new direction and clarity in the heights of praise and worship. In general, regardless of personal belief, we are all born with a sense of the divine,and though despite becoming rather clouded by the thing of this world as we get older, we still have a longing for it.
